DEVELOP A CITY VIEW
City View Church is driven by a number of core values that shape our view of life and ministry. This is more complicated than a sentence on a page. Below you will find what this looks like up close.
VALUE THE WORD
2 TIMOTHY 3:16, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
At City View Church all we do is governed by and in submission to the Word of God. Whether it is a community outreach, a student ministry event, or the weekly gathering of believers in City Groups and for Worship the scriptures will be at the center of all we do.
It is this core value the drives us to primarily preach the books of the Bible. We do this primarily because we believe the Bible is best understood when each verse is seen within its proper context, as the biblical authors intended. Occasionally we step out of this rhythm and spend a season on a certain topic, theme or group of scriptures, however we believe that preaching verse by verse helps us to engage all of the scriptures while preventing us from picking a soap box or avoiding difficult passages. Each week we will examine a text and learn what God is teaching us about himself and how we are to live.

IMPACT THE CITY AND NATIONS
ACTS 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
In the verse above Jesus commands the early church to reach the world with the gospel through ever growing concentric circles of impact. The church was to begin in the city and grow ever outward.
As a church we desire to reach our city by proclaiming the good news of Jesus through strategically located City Groups, serving within the city, and faithfully reflecting the love of Christ in our interactions with each other and the community in which we live.
While impacting the city is crucial, the advance of the gospel is not restricted to our particular corner of the globe. As a member of the Southern Baptist Convention we contribute to the cooperative program, which facilitates church planting and revitalization across our state, this nation, and nations all across the world. We do not desire to make an impact through financial giving only. We desire to actively make an impact upon our nation and the nations around the world by going and serving together as a church family.

EQUIP THE CHRISTIAN
2 PETER 3:18, “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
Throughout the Scriptures we are admonished time and again concerning the importance of maturing in our relationship with God. This is accomplished through a variety of means. In our context we seek to equip the Christian through…
· Our weekly gatherings by the faithful preaching of the Word
· City Groups gather each week to teach the word and talk about its impact upon our daily life. The small groups provide opportunity to know and be known by mature Christians who can aide us in our growth.
· Internships/Cohorts – As a church we desire to raise up leaders from within the church. Many of these leaders will serve City View Church, however there are others we will raise up and send to serve and plant future churches.
· Conferences – Each year we provide opportunities to host and/or attend conferences with the express purpose of strengthening our walk with Christ.
· Discipling/Mentoring Relationships – As a church we regularly look to encourage one another in the faith by sharing our lives and allowing iron to sharpen iron.

WORSHIP GOD WITH OUR LIVES
ROMANS 12:11, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”
In God’s Word it is clear that the Christian is not called to simply go through the motions of church attendance. As a culture we have dangerously defined worship as a weekly gathering or a genre of music.
In Romans 12, Paul makes it clear that true worship is found by daily submitting our selves to the will of God and out of joy loving and serving him. Worship is a relationship, not a time of the week or style of music.
At City View we seek to encourage this “living worship” through discipling relationships, teaching concerning living on mission in our jobs, homes, and places of recreation. This means that worship takes place in our homes, at the grocery store, and over coffee with friends. In all that we do as a church body we seek to worship God and make him the focus and center of all our activity.
